Spherical Plain Bearing

A spherical plain bearing is a kind of spherical sliding bearing whose sliding contact surface is an inner ring with a sphere convex outside diameter and an outer ring with a correspondingly sphered but concave inside surface. The Angle of spherical plain bearing varies with the size of the bearing structure, the sealing device, and the support form. The Angle of the joint bearing is more prominent; the self-aligning function is more significant. This design makes them particularly suitable for bearing arrangements where alignment movements between shaft and housing have to be accommodated, or oscillating or recurrent tilting or slewing activities must be possible at relatively slow sliding speeds. Bearings with this sliding contact surface combination require regular relubrication.

The Application of Spherical Plain Bearing

The spherical plain bearing can bear radial load, axial load, or radial-axial combined load at the same time according to their different types and structures, which are widely used in a low-speed oscillating motion, inclined motion, and rotary motion, such as engineering hydraulic cylinders, forging machine tools, construction machinery, automation equipment, automotive shock absorbers, water conservancy machinery and other industries.

The Types of Spherical Plain Bearing

The spherical plain bearing has large load capacity, impact resistance, corrosion resistance, wear resistance, good lubrication, etc. The spherical plain bearing can make rotary oscillation motion at any angle when they’re adopted based on the bearing type supporting form, load size, and other working conditions. Spherical plain bearings’ main types are as follows:(1) Radial spherical plain bearings, (2) Angular contact plain bearings, and (3) Thrust plain bearings.
